Healing Potpourri at The Knockout Nov 8

How to describe Healing Potpourri? Sweet bossa beats with a real gentle vibe. Healing, indeed. It's like what you wish elevator music was. The boys are coming to The Knockout tonight and we wanted to send out this late but proper invitation. So forth, be soothed. -Michelle Kicherer, Associate Editor

Jakob Battick releases folk psych collection Tour Tape 2019

Earlier this month Jakob Battick, the Berkeley-based musician (originally hailing from the great state of Maine) released Tour Tape 2019, digitally and as a limited edition cassette. For fans of quiet psych folk who appreciate a touch of drone and drifting off into spacey realms. A personal favorite off the collection, “Lilac Bloom” showcases more melodic moments and a lovely female vocal accompaniment. Props to Liam Herb for the crystal wine glass work on these tunes and just the right amount of mystical synth. Feels like just the right kind of tunes to stargaze to. -Michelle Kicherer, Associate Editor

2%

Experimental Noise Collective 2% recently released two collections of music. Black Sight Demo is an ominous collections of 17 tracks of ambient drone pieces that will leave you equally relaxed and terrified. This could be your perfect haunted house soundtrack, or maybe we are just in the spirit today.

The band, consisting of Jack Kuglich, Adam Strumberger, Anthony Vassmer, Frank Alagna & Dave Swanson, also released a noisier album called “Norse”. This is two extended tracks filled with sounds we are sure you’ve never heard before.

Berkeley-based Sis is playing Amnesia tonight to celebrate the release of their sophomore album, Gas Station Roses (Native Cat Recordings). The band, led by singer and multi-instrumentalist Jenny Gillespie Mason, has a soulful psych rock feel with Peter Gabriel and Talking Heads influences alongside Afropop and Japanese pop. Sis is composed of Mason and two members from the band Meerna, Carly Bond (electric guitar, flutes, vocals) and Rob Shelton (synths, programming) who help bring this album into the new dimensions. Come check them out tonight with Lalin St. Juste and Sitka Sun.  - Lucille Faulkner
