Dear Georgiana

For the lovers of lush pop, a New Year's Eve with Dear Georgiana and Elizabeth & The Catapult at Rockwood

If you are not a fan of sweaty and chaotic New Year's Eve parties, or if you'd like to take it easy in the early evening hours, Rockwood Music Hall has put together a very civilized - but extremely enjoyable - early show for the last day of 2014: Elizabeth & the Catapult (pictured) and Dear Georgiana are the brainchildren of two of the most talented NYC based female songwriters. and will take the stage of Rockwood 2, in that order, starting at 8pm on December 31.  Check out these two catchy and lush singles from their recent albums.

Tonight's Deli B.E.A.F./Northside show: Rootsy Stage at Spike Hill

Yo suckers, tomorrow's show is for lovers, come out with your favorite person(s) and get them drunk to these lovely tunes!

Weekly Feature: Dear Georgiana plays The Deli's B.E.A.F./Northside Stage at Spike Hill on 06.13

Dear Georgiana is the music of Brooklyn-based and Alabama-born Lauren Balthrop. If Patsy Kline had lived past 1963 and made a record produced by Barry Gordy, you would have probably been able to compare the two chanteuses. This is not the first musical project for Lauren, in fact, she is well seasoned in the NYC scene, having performed in numerous bands such as Balthrop, Alabama and The Bandana Splits. This is however her first solo endeavor, and possibly the most well conceived of all.

EVENTS: See Dear Georgiana at The Deli's B.E.A.F./Northside Rootsy Stage at Spike Hill on 06.13 with Weyes Blood, Bridget Davis, Great Caesar and Such Hounds among others.

Dear Georgiana Wins the Deli NYC's Year End Poll SONGWRITER Open Submissions

One-half 1960s confectionary pop, one-half folk whimsy, Dear Georgiana's debut record just might be one of the best albums of the year. With a voice sure to possess you, placed on top a facade of candy-coated pop fun, it's no wonder she's won Deli Mag's open submissions for the songwriter category this year. Check out her single 'I Wanna Be In Love' below, and fall in love with Brooklyn-by-Alabama songwriter Lauren Balthrop yourself. Mike Levine (@goldnuggets)

Dear Georgiana releases debut + plays Rockwood on 06.02

A southern belle has brought her charming voice and not so southern sounding tunes up north. Named after a town in her home state of Alabama, Dear Georgiana is Lauren Balthrop, former member of the retro rootsy-pop trio The Bandana Splits. She has recently released her debut self titled album, which features her signature soprano and open melodies that harken back to 1950’s pop.  Preview single "Wanna Be In Love" (streaming below) bears an intriguing mix of influences, from rockabilly to what we call "avant-indie." See Dear Georgiana live at Rockwood Music Hall's Stage 2 on June 02. - PJT
